The Daily Swank - A Vintage Bouquet

Some days when I'm strolling through the market I'll treat myself to a bouquet of fresh flowers. I think it's so nice to have something a little special to set on your table or a little something to cheer you up. It brings life and refreshes. Today's Daily Swank doesn't feature live flowers, but these amazing vintage blooms.

Aren't they gorgeous! It's like looking through a field of wild flowers. All different and unique in their very own way. Each flower brooch is handmade by Leslie Janson, a new shop owner on Etsy. Visit her shop for more gorgeous blooms and unique creations all using vintage handkerchiefs, buttons and accessories.

Shop Indie - The Blissful is so much more than Bliss...

Hey VI readers! This feature comes with a "need to get your drool cloth ready" warning. I am in love with this shop! They best part it's only about a two hour drive so I'm making plans to head up there in the very near future.

I'm talking about the gorgeous French Inspired shop The Blissful. This independently owned shop is ran by proprietor Abby Kerr a former high school English teacher. Located in Canton Ohio.

This store is full of rich-chic and dreamy wares for living in luxury. I literally couldn't choose just any one picture to show you so I hope that you enjoy these.

After Following The Blissful Blog I get the feeling that every little detail is in place. Customers are in love with the vignettes and the care that is taken to create that special dreamland when you walk through the door.

Speaking of dreamland I could snuggle up with some apple cinnamon spice tea on that bed!

If you are planning on visiting The Blissful, try to make it there this week November 1st, 2nd & third as they host a special event. A Blissful Unveiling and a French Inspired Noel.

Shop Vintage - Fall Fashion Week

If you are looking for true authentic vintage than you'll love Hobo's Vintage in Redlands, CA.

Hobo's offers a nice selection of Vintage shirts, jackets, dresses, skirts as well as ladies accessories and shoes.

I recently asked Hobo's owner Marquis to fill me in on how Hobo's was started. After many years getting his feet wet working at other vintage stores and learning what he could from experienced long time store owners, his final goal would be to open his own shop.



After meeting his wife Nicole, he found all the missing pieces to his puzzle and they fulfilled his dream of owning his own shop together. They began with a spot in the run-down 1970's Redlands Mall.

       "It was a great starting point though, with enough foot traffic for us to become known and successful enough to move to an ideal spot the next year. Our charming current location is right in sync with our appreciate for history in a beautiful old building built in 1928. We are a few stores down from Fox Coffee at the corner of Vine and Cajon streets."

The main focus at Hobo's is to offer good vintage at low prices. Marquis said, "I think a good amount of the thrill of shopping vintage is the feeling of scoring a great piece for a great price. That could just be the cheapskate in me, but I don't seem to be the only one."

I hope if you live near Hobo's vintage or are in Redlands that you stop at their shop and check out their huge collection. While you are there have fun and don't forget to tell them you saw them on Vintage Indie.

The Daily Swank Fall Fashion Week - Indie Accessories are a MUST

For today's Daily Swank, I've gathered up a few indie designers who make autumn a big part of their designs.

My first feature is this gorgeous Leafy Leather Brooch Autumn. This a perfect example of vintage and independent design. I love the vintage button in the center that pulls together the warm colors of the leathers. You can find this brooch and other wonderful hand cut and inked leather items at Etsy shop Holly Hawk.

Next up is the Olivia Hobo Bag in Vintage Fall Harvest. This is one of many new bags in the Olivia collection at Population 1. This one is created from thrifted vintage twill. Find many other creations from Population One's line including pouches, multiple designed bags and more.

We can't forget the little ones. The Daily Swank Fall Fashion Week - Leafy Accessories

Don't you just love it when the leaves start changing colors and make everything seem so warm and cozy in the fall. I sure do! Today's Daily Swank highlights some super swanky leafy accessories, I think you'll agree.

The Daily Swank - Fall Fashion Week - The Pillowcase Dress

Today's Daily Swank shop Sugar Sandwich shares with us her history of the pillowcase dress and brings an adorable collection of fall fashion for the sweet little girl in your life. I think you will fall in love with these adorable dresses.

The vintage premise behind the pillow case dress is the idea of the pillowcase dress itself that is vintage. Sewing clothes for children has pulled our family through hard times for generations. My Grandmothers grandmother sewed flour sack and pillowcase dresses, I am simply carrying on that tradition as a way to get by while I raise two children. In their time it was a way of using what you had, and a pillowcase would certainly not lay idly by whilst a "youngin" went without! These days, I have a choice of so many fabrics so I haven't yet used an actual pillowcase, I do however, use what I have and every last bit of it...as you can see by my scrappy dolls!

The Daily Swank - Autumn Art

Good mornin' lovelies, it's Friday wahoo. Today's Daily Swank is absolutely gorgeous. I'm totally diggin these artists. They highlight autumn in a wonderful way though photography. Sit back drink your latte or tea and please enjoy.

Shop Vintage & Indie at Le Petit Garage

Today's featured store is a perfect example of Vintage Indie. A gorgeous shop that specializes in both Vintage & Independent goods. I'm thrilled to bring you Le Petit Garage.

Le Petit Garage started with a creative mind. College grad Cara Hershey was looking to fulfill some dreams, all while creating with her own two hands. She began her venture by first making handbags.

After pairing up with a couple of crafty friends, they soon took their show on the road. A "boutique on wheels" is what Cara called it. They traveled together giving at home parties for people who filled their homes with handmade goods and crafty creations. Little did Cara know, her dream of opening her own actual store was about to come true.

 

With a wonderful idea from Cara's mom and a friend Le Petit Garage was born. Yes, Le Petit Garage really is in a garage. Not just any garage. A street side shop nestled in the first floor of the very same  ocean home Cara grew up in, in Seaside Heights, NJ. 

Today, the antique tables serve as displays. All of them holding creations from indie designers themselves and gorgeous vintage finds.  While the gorgeous chandelier ceiling illuminates the boutique.

After three years of business Le Petit Garage has expanded and opened it's second location on the boardwalk called Cabana. They've also recently launched their online website and are in the works of opening a third location called The Paris Flea Market.

The Daily Swank - Shoppin' on Etsy

Today's Daily Swank features a couple of unique Etsy shops. Etsy, is such a great resource for finding great handmade items with a vintage flair.

First up from a really cool shop on Etsy called When in Doubt Draw Flowers. Check out this handmade Flowers lampshade created with original vintage 70's wall paper. I love how something so vintage, is brought to life in a new mod kind of way.

Next up from Etsy is shop ShowPony Their line of  Vintage Purses, this one shown in lime is brought to life with this great vintage image screenprinted on organic fair-trade cotton. Head over to ShowPony they have other great colors and bags in these vintage styles.

The Daily Swank - All in Good Time

Not necessarily vintage, but definitely indie today's Daily Swank features All in Good Time.

The first from All in Good Time is one that I just couldn't pass up. We share the same name, but a different spelling. This is the Gabrielle Necklace. A gorgeous silver plated filigree base holds the Waltham watch face and other components. I love the composition of the all of the elements in this necklace, and they best part it's versatile and can be worn as a pin.

Next is this Adeline Necklace. Don't you just love the classiness of these pieces, simply stunning. The watch gears are an extra special addition to this piece. Simply remove the pendant and place on your favorite casual clutch for a quick dress up.

Dear Friends, It has been an amazing and fun month at Vintage Indie. The Daily Swank has been filled with Fall Nesting ideas and preparing our homes for the colder seasons ahead. Many were from vintage finds on Etsy and stores who love the vintage as much as I do.     I was pleased to have our featured sponsor Precious Objects on board for the month of September. If you haven't been over to Wendy Humphry's Etsy shop you'll want to head over there for some gorgeous vintage jewels. Just in time for fall is my latest find from her shop.A Vintage Amber Glass and Citrene Necklace . I love the warm colors, perfect for the oranges and yellows of the season.    I can't help but feel extremely excited about the fall season and our Vintage Teacup Swap . We'll be filling our kitchens and our new vintage vessels with flavors of fall. The familiar scent of cinnamon, pumpkin, clove, apples and many other creative ideas I'm sure. The Daily Swank - GALERIE DE ILLUMINATA

You know that feeling when a piece of artwork speaks to you. You know, your browsing your local museum and you see all of these people starring at a piece of art and you can't understand why. Then you walk closer, you get a better look and then find yourself in that same state... standing there just starring. That's how I felt when I came across Galerie de Illuminata. Artist Mikel Robinson is a self trained artist from North Carolina who specializes in mixed media art.

There is just something about these trees that I love. This particular one is called Red Tree Landscape. I adore the clouds in this piece of art, and the vintage feel that each piece has.

 

How about this one, called Evening. Isn't it gorgeous and the warm hues of golds and the details of the birds. It reminds me of late night summers on the farm growing up.

Shop Indie - For a Good Cause

I always like to support a good cause and Vintage Indie Sponsor Tacky Back in Time asked if I could share Etsy for Animals with you .
