It's already January 4th. Can you believe it? Our family is finally getting back to a normal routine. Today we've dove back into our school work, hubby started a new job and order is happening all around me. Although I have some appointments, interrupting things this week I'm finally feeling like I have a grasp on a few things.
How about you? Are you letting the new year overwhelm you? I know the biggest thing right now on blogs across the net are setting goals and resolutions. Are you letting all of this talk get to you? Are you feeling pressured into all of the hustle and bustle?
To me, Janurary likes to try take over my brain and my thought process. It tries tell me what I need to do to succeed for the entire rest of the year. It just doesn't feel realistic. Well maybe I should have goals, goals aren't bad after all. Maybe I should resolve to do this and that. The reality is, these things aren't bad for us. I don't blame people for setting them up and taking charge of their lives. I know these things are important in keeping order and peace but to jump right in on January 1st, I feel like most people are setting themselves up for failure. I feel like there is so much pressure that they (and me) loose site of what's actually important and the words goal and resolution take over instead. So instead of creating this long list of goals, and how we're all going to strive to be better people and keep up with the laundry for real this year, let's just take it one day at a time.

I'm starting with my faith in Jesus Christ. Each morning I plan to read my Bible. Whether it is for five minutes or thirty minutes. I'm going to focus my heart, my mind and my soul on becoming closer to God. After all, if I put all of my trust in Him, He will lead me and guide me and the rest will fall into place. 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding - Proverbs 3:5; If my focus is on Him and my life is aligned with him, he's promised to sustain me. That should be enough. 22 Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. - Psalms 5:22 NIV
I'm not asking to to completely throw out the idea of goals, and resolutions. I don't plan to do that either. I'm simply asking you to focus on what is important. Not those words in and of themselves.

This year is going to be amazing and full of love, I can already tell. I hope you find peace in your heart this January. I hope you find calmness in the new year like you've never felt before. Seek Him first.
33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33
