The Daily Swank - Furniture Week - Coco Vintage Furniture

Shopping for Vintage Furniture can be so much fun. If you are looking for pieces that are  "design ready" to  incorporate into your design, there are a some fabulous online resources. Coco Vintage Furniture is a great one for chairs.  They have a great line of refurbished rescued vintage furniture made over for a perfect balance of luxury and chic.

This chair is part of a pair of French over-sized Bergeres  in the Neoclassic Manner and includes over-stuffed down cushion.

How about a little mid-century Hollywood. I love this high back chair in lush velvet fabric. I know you are thinking of a room for this one!

As much as I love the vintage look and feel of those chairs, I love this more modern style sofa. Its been re-upholstered in two contrasting fabrics by Paul Mc Cobb.

The Daily Swank - Supply Eye Candy

This Mother's Day weekend, I plan on relaxing and taking some time to work on a few craft projects that I haven't worked on in oh.. about 3 months. So I'll be off in my studio listening to some Frankie and decoupaging. Although crafting usually means making my way back to my laptop to order more supplies. I can't help it I'm a vintage supply addict... I know I'm not the only one out there.. here, here are a few of my favorite vintage craft supplies from One Ripe Peach, you know you want them.

The Daily Swank - Through the Viewfinder

If you only knew about my slight addiction to photography and ecspecially photography "Through the Viewfinder". Maybe I'm just out of the loop in photography land, but it seems as this style is showing it's face more and more, which is a really good thing for me, but not my pocketbook. Today's Daily Swank is one of my favorites, there were so many beautiful images to choose from but I narrowed it down to some of the more antique shots.

Appreciating antique and vintage bottles are something that I'm sure a lot of the vintage lovers out there do. I've seen some pretty amazing collection and seen them popping up in interior design everywhere. Spring Gardening with The Baby Gardener

Each year to celebrate spring, I have high hopes of a garden of some sort. I don't really care what it is, I would just love to grow something. My thumb isn't so green, but each year I try something. Last year my husband and I focused on landscaping and with the crazy weather here in Kentucky, it killed almost all of our new plants, bushes and one tree. So yesterday I ventured out to purchase some plants for my hopes of a small container garden and came home with one tomato plant and nine Brussel sprout plants. That's it, that's all I could find. So I decided I'll focus on these two and possibly add something else next week. I'm surrounded by trees so not many hours of full sun, but I'm holding out for the little sliver of land that gets the most sun, I'll keep you posted.

Vintage Indie - What was the idea behind starting The Baby Gardner?
TBG - I've been a designer for 13 years and an avid collector of 'vintage' for most of those. The Baby Gardner began as a collection of my own vintage-inspired creations for little ones shortly after the birth of my daughter. As the business grew and evolved, it seemed the perfect opportunity to showcase other talented artists while staying true to the 'vintage baby' niche we had created. We now have more than a dozen amazingly-talented indie artists featured at The Baby Gardner.

I managed to grab a few hours of fresh air and a glimpse of warm on this spring day, although it was a little chilly and I could have used a jacket. So, for today's Daily Swank think vintage for your next spring outing and grab that swanky jacket!

The Daily Swank - Farmer's Market Season is here!

Do you know how excited that I am that it's almost farmer's market season?! I absolutely love tugging the family along to pick our fresh produce and flowers for the week all while supporting my local farmer. I'm even more excited this year, because the local high school to me is hosting it's first one this year! Thats Independence, KY at the Simon Kenton High School if anyone in my town is reading. Today's Daily Swank is a  must have if you visit the farmer's markets in your town and a really good idea to start using during your trips to the grocery store as well.

The Daily Swank - Refreshing

Feeling refreshed? Well, hopefully after today's Daily Swank full of refreshing eye candy you will. I'm in love with Pink Lemonade Boutique. If you haven't had a chance to check out their shop, and you "need" a new bag for spring, you should really take a gander over there.

I'm in love with the Verdant bag (Top Left), probably because it's my colors (greens) but the green trim and the grown up base fabric is such an eye pleasing combination.

Pink Lemonade Boutique really does go over the top with clean lines and does a fabulous job blending fabrics for the, most perfect spring bags.

Check out their sold items as well, they have done some amazing custom bags in the past, and are currently taking custom requests.

The Daily Swank - Sixth and Elm

I'm always intrigued about the types of things people create and what medium people fall in. In today's Daily Swank, I fell in love with a box made of wood that came to life with this artist's touch.

You can find these wood burned boxes at Sixth & Elm. Each one unique it's own way.

The first one is a French Script Wood Box. It's burned with French script of "The Love Letters of Abelard and Heloise,". A truly unique treasure box, that would make perfect for gift giving, and a keepsake in one.

I'm also drawn to vintage maps, I think if I could, I would have them all over my home. There is just something about them. I grew truly fond of this Antique Map Box, it's fictional maps have been burned onto the surface and sanded for a vintage look.

The Daily Swank - Baby Goes Vintage

I've been meaning to tell you about today's Daily Swank for awhile now. Baby Goes Vintage is one of my favorite baby and child stores. It's full of vintage warmth and loads of charm.

Look at this darling wall art. I love the old school look of this Girl Feeding a Cat. It's a paper illustration backed by wood and comes with a creamy white ribbon for hanging.

Dare to be different in your princesses room. I know I wouldn't mind this Stella Chandelier in my own bedroom. It's real crystal drops make is something special, worthy of passing down.

The Daily Swank - DripStick Art

I have to say when I came across today's Daily Swank I fell in love. I keep meaning to show you my master bedroom makeover but all of these things keep coming up like DripStick Art. I have three decorating personalities, art deco-ish, art nouveau-ish & shabby chic-ish it's finding a balance within those three that I have trouble with. I think DripStick taps into my art deco-ish personality with their artwork.

 

From their French Box Label series - Lemon. I'm in love with the rich color and the vintage appeal to this print by artist Joshua Martens. A set from this series would go perfectly in my kitchen & yours!

Up next, is  a piece from their Postage Stamp Series this one, Sailing is also by the same artist Joshua Martens.

The Daily Swank - Those Famous Three R's

Ahhh, those famous three R's Reuse, Reduce & Recycle. Are you doing your part? Do you know about your city's local recycling center? I'm helping readers from my area Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. Why don't you do the same, post some local links and info from your hometown for your local readers on your own blog! In the meantime today's Daily Swank is a great find for housewares that includes all of the three  R's. I'd like to introduce you to the artwork of Rebekah from ship frames by rls .

Each frame from this shop is 100% recycled. The frame itself from recycled cardboard and newspaper. This specific design is also includes  Vintage 1950's clothing and undies advertisements!

If you are looking for a little recycled chic, I think this Russian Dance Sheet Music Picture Frame is just the thing. Rebekah pulled these music sheets from a found book in her grandfathers attic.

The Daily Swank - Plastic vs. Paper ?

Moving right along with our "vintage green living"  series which also happens to be one of my most passionate subjects. I thought I would bring up the debate about Plastic vs. Paper. It seems from what I've read that neither is the best choice. That leaves you with the question, "Well, how do you expect me to tug my groceries and shopping?
