Organic & Whole Living Pregnancy: The Amazing Chia Seed! For Heartburn?
I'm sure most of you have heard of a chia seed, ya know those little seeds to grow "pets" out of. They were all the rage in the 80s and you can still find them on store shelves today. Today, I'm not talking about growing them, I'm talking about eating them!
Chia seeds have amazing qualities and attributes that make them a great addition to your pregnancy.
Doctor Oz and Michael F Roizen, authors of "You: Having a Baby: The Owner's Manual to a Happy and Healthy Pregnancy," suggest eating chia seeds during pregnancy as one way to slow how quickly your body absorbs sugar. He also has " The Ultimate Pregnancy Smoothie" on his website which contains chia seeds.
I've recently discovered a little trick with the chia seeds for heartburn. Mix 1 Tablespoon with 1/2 cup-Cup of water. Let sit for 15 minutes and drink down the now gelatinous chia seeds. The seeds soak up the acid in your stomach to help ease painful mild heartburn.
